Welcome. Launched on Independence Day, 2007, this is a competition to design a "Proudly Pinoy" logo intended for placement on Filipino websites. The idea is to create a logo which expresses the pride of being Filipino, and which will allow a web site to elegantly declare its Philippine identity. The logo shall be in the form of a .gif or .png image freely available to everyone, meaning that any Filipino webmaster can post it on his or her website or blog.
[DETAILS]
|
Thank you to everyone who helped make this competition such a tremendous success. It has been an incredible experience to every day witness the amazing range and depth of creativity and artistic talent of the many designers who participated in this event.
We have received no less than 297 entries.
The winning entry will be chosen on July 19, 2007. The high quality of the entries, and the sheer number of entries means that we will have a very hard time deciding on a winner. Please help us make that difficult decision. If you like an entry, we want to know about it. Send in your comments by email. If you blogged about entries you like, send us the URL. If you know about a thread on a forum with comments and analyses of the entries, let us a know.
Thank you - and don't forget to check back on July 20, 2007, when you can start putting the winning entry on your web pages.
|
|
Note: While great care was taken during the update, due to the large number of entries, we may have accidently skipped your entry, or made a mistake with your nickname or URL. Please let us know if we've made a mistake and we'll undo it.
Prize Money
The creator of the winning entry will be awarded PhP 10,000 cash. But forget about the money. Do it for your country.
Examples
The winning logo might make use of concepts from Aguinaldo's Philippine flag, which already is strongly identified with Filipino identity. There are many excellent logos which make use of the Philippine flag, such as the
PCSO logo, the
Global Pinoy logo, or the
Mabuhay Channel.
South Africa has a superb "Proudly South African" logo, found on countless South African web sites, which is based on the new South African flag. Althouth the South African logo is tied to a national project, the Pinoy version would be a looser implementation consisting of a logo only. In any case, it is our hope that the Proudly Pinoy logo will be just as good as if not better than the Proudly South African logo.
Participation
The deadline has passed and we are no longer accepting new entries.
Signal your attention to participate in the competition by putting up a link to www.proudlypinoy.org, or by blogging about this project (if you have a website). Then whip out the old Illustrator or Corel or GIMP whatever graphics software you prefer, and do your magic. Send the finished logo to proudlypinoy@yahoo.com.ph before 23:59, July 11, 2007, Philippine Standard Time. You may send up to 3 entries per person.
- Format should be .gif or .png or .jpg. No Flash! Flash entries will not be accepted.
- Background color should be white or transparent.
- Logo should contain text, in any font, stating "Proudly Pinoy".
When sending your logo, state your name or nickname (which we will post as a caption below your entry), and the link to your website - when people click on your entry, they will be taken to your site.
Judging
The forum of public opinion will be the jury, and the sponsors will be the judge. We will post all entries on this page, unless they are really really awful (like the London Olympics logo). Everyone can look at the entries and blog about them, or contact the organizers with comments and opinions. The sponsors will look at people's blogs about the logos, and read the email you send, and make a decision. The decision shall be final. The winning entry will be announced on this page on July 19, 2007.
Received Entries
Here are the entries we have received so far. Please note that these entries may not be used yet. The designers who made these entries retain full rights to these entries, so don't start pasting them on your website just yet. Thank you.

[HIDE]
|
What dimensions should the logo be? Round or square?
Any shape, any dimensions. We will shrink it to a reasonable size when posting it here.
Animated or still?
Up to you. It is very, very, very difficult to create a good animated logo. If you think you can do something as good as the
original Hotmail logo, go for it.
How many entries can I send?
Should I also include a written explanation about the logo?
No. We won't post any verbiage and we won't forward explanations the judges. If a logo needs to be explained, it doesn't function as a logo.
Can I edit my entry after submitting?
No, once submitted an entry cannot be changed.
Can I participate anonymously?
Not proud of your work? But OK. As you wish. We'll post your entry as Anon 1, Anon 2, etc.
I am not Filipino, can I participate?
Yes, but you must be in the Republic of the Philippines to receive the prize money.
Why do I have to be in the Philippines to participate?
We have to be absolutely certain that you will be able to receive the prize money without hitches. Since there are Filipinos in every country in the world, including obscure places such as Belize or Bhutan, we cannot be sure that the prize money can be paid out without problems unless the participant is resident in the Philippines. (It is, however, OK if the participant is temporarily travelling abroad, and a relative can receive payment on behalf of the participant.)
Any age limits? Qualifications?
No age limit. No qualifications required. No entry fee, either. However, you must be able to receive payment in the Philippines, so that we can get the
prize money to you in case your entry is chosen.
Why not use a web voting system?
A web voting script is easily hacked, and because (a) there is real money involved and (b) web designers are knowledgeable about hacking stuff, we will not use a web voting system for this project.
In what order are the entries displayed?
In the order received, unless there is a problem, in which case the entry is displayed after the last logo received before said problem is resolved.
How will the prize money be handed over?
We will send, by the Philippine Post, a check for the full amount, or we can Western Union it to you less remittance fees.
Who will own the rights to the logo? The copyright?
The winning entry will be in the Philippine public domain copyrighted by the organizers but made freely available to everyone, meaning any Filipino or webmaster of a Filipino site can post the logo on their web site (DETAILS). As for the non-winning entries, the rights revert to the respective creator.
No prizes for the runner up?
No, sorry, this is a winner takes all event.
Where will the awarding ceremony take place? Will it be televised?
There will be no ceremony because this is a Web-only event, for the Web and on the Web.
Is there a possibility the contest will be cancelled?
Only in the case of force majeure (massive earthquake, tsunami, etc.) or if we get less than 5 entries. But it is likely we will get at least 50 entries.
